Test Distillations
Laboratory of UIC GmbH

Control and data recording

UIC GmbH owes a laboratory in Alzenau-Hoerstein (Germany), which is equipped with several laboratory and pilot plants to perform test distillations for customers. Experienced specialists operate and maintain these plants. Several thousands of test series with sample materials of a large variety of application fields have already been performed for our customers from all over the world. The results of these trials and the experience gained are an essential part of our know-how.

The targets of test distillations are:
-
to check whether Thin Film / Short Path Distillation is the suitable technology to solve a separation problem
-
to generate process parameters for the design of industrial production plants (upscaling)
-
to determine the performance limits in order to stipulate process guarantees
-
to produce product samples for chemical / physical tests at the customer's, respectively for handing over these samples to their potential customers

Laboratory plants are used for first basic test distillations. By small sample quantities and little efforts / costs, the quality of a separation can be judged.

Available laboratory plants: Required product quantities:
KDL 1 min. 50 g
KDL 5 approx. 1 - 3 kg
KDL 5 CADi approx. 1 - 3 kg
DSL 5 with rectification column approx. 2 - 5kg

In order to obtain reliable process parameters for the engineering of industrial plants, it is often necessary to perform additional pilot tests.

Available pilot plants: Required product quantities:

KD 6

approx. 50 kg
RF 6 approx. 50 kg

Multi-stage modular pilot plant, equipped with approx. 150 – 400 kg
-
Degasser
-
Falling Film Evaporator
-
Thin Film Evaporators RF 10, RF 20
-
Short Path Distillators KD 10, KD 30

Most of the plants available in our laboratory are computer-controlled. The results are centrally recorded and visualized as Excel-sheets or trend curves.

If you are interested to perform test distillations with your sample material in our laboratory, please contact us.

To protect our employees and to enable us to prepare ourselves for the tests, we ask you to submit the following information to us in advance:
-
safety data sheet of the test material
-
filled-in questionnaire of UIC GmbH
-
information about packing and transportation (in case of dangerous goods)
